St Patrick's Primary School

Together Everyone Achieves More. Journey to Learning

Welcome

Dear Parents/ Carers,
Welcome to St Patrick’s P.S. website.
St Patrick’s Primary School has a long and proud tradition of providing an excellent education for the children of Portrush and beyond. We are especially proud of the care and welfare we extend to all children. Our energetic and talented team ensure that every child in our care experiences outstanding teaching and learning to reach their potential, especially those children who require a little extra support. We embrace diversity at St Patricks, our pupils learn tolerance and respect in a safe and child-centred environment.

Our school is located on attractive grounds that are enjoyed by children and adults alike and is sited next to the beautiful East Strand beach.

St Patrick`s has a close association with local post primary schools. We are a traditional feeder school to Dominican College Portstewart, Loreto College Coleraine, Coleraine Grammar School, Dalriada School, Ballymoney and Our Lady of Lourdes Ballymoney.

During the past few years we have made significant improvements to the learning facilities inside our school building. All classrooms have the latest in Interactive whiteboards, every pupil enjoys the use of their own iPad. We embrace the exciting possibilities digital learning brings to our teaching.

We are committed to continuously improving our school environment, with the most recent being an amazing new climbing trail. Work on a new early years classroom, with an adjacent outdoor learning area is already underway.

We have a strong team of staff who are committed to providing a high-quality learning environment where children can achieve, enjoy and excel in all areas of school life. At St. Patricks we are a family. Bullying, Racism, sectarianism and any other form of negative behaviour is not tolerated. We also have a good sense of fun.

Teachers and support staff all work hard to maintain a safe and happy school where children are encouraged to become enthusiastic and lifelong learners. Children are valued as members of the school community and our Positive Behaviour Policy places emphasis on celebrating success and taking responsibility for their actions. The school offers an enriched, broad and balanced curriculum and strives to give children lots of opportunities in music, arts and sport as well as excelling academically. This is reflected in our motto – ‘Together everyone achieves more’.

Parents are encouraged to be active partners in their children’s learning through effective communication, regular information about children’s learning and progress, homework activities and a strong emphasis on developing children’s reading skills from an early age. Parents also support the school by attending regular assemblies, concerts and shows, and helping in school in a variety of ways. We have an effective Parent teacher Association, who organise events throughout the year so that parents can be involved whilst raising money for special projects within the school.

Our school benefits from the good support of an active Governing Body who ensure that the school fulfils its duties and provides value for money. They challenge the school to ensure that children achieve high standards within the spirit of the agreed school aims.

I am proud to be part of a school that values children as individuals, recognising individual skills, interests and needs so that each child can achieve their potential and ‘be their best’.

I invite you to call, meet our team and experience this wonderful school.
