What is the difference between a prefix and a suffix?

When you know the meaning of a prefix or suffix, it can help your understanding of an unfamiliar word.

The root word ‘graph’ comes from the Greek word ‘graphos’ meaning ‘written’.

When the /f/ sound is written <ph> in an English word, it is usually because it comes from Greek.
