  • App development

    Thu 27 Mar 2025 Miss O Kane

Over the past few weeks we have been working on an ‘App Development’ Project.

This has proven to be a very successful and enjoyable activity, covering many areas of the curriculum.

Literacy: The children used their persuasive writing skills to write Dragon’s Den Style pitches, which were presented to our special guest last Friday.

Art & ICT: The children used their ICT skills to create engaging and intriguing logos for their app.

Maths: The children thought about ways to maximise profit and promote their idea.

Drama: The children spoke confidently and engaged with their audience whilst explaining their ideas.

It was fantastic to see all children work hard over the last few weeks and present their final business plan.

This will prove to be a very worthwhile project, with a number of subjects in Post-Primary School now involving an aspect of App Design and Coding.

Well done to everyone for putting their all into this and a massive thank you to our special guest, Conor Brolly (IT Consultant), for calling down to see and hear about our ideas and pick a lucky winner.

The School Council have organised a ‘Break the Rules’ day at school this Friday 7th February.

The poster attached outlines the rules that are allowed to be broken.  The children are only allowed to break these 6 rules.  For example, children do not need to wear uniform, children will be able to wear temporary tattoos, children will be able to wear their hair down, etc.

Children WILL need to stick to other school rules such as no mobile phones and follow our school rules (Talk and act positively, Embrace and follow instructions, Act kindly keeping hands and feet to yourself, Make yourself the best you can be).

PLEASE NOTE: ANY SNACKS MUST BE NUT FREE - NO NUTS and NO ENERGY DRINKS!

Whilst the poster suggests a donation of £2 please note that this is not an expectation. We are extremely grateful for any donations, no matter how large or small!

Thank you for all your ongoing support.

  • P.6/7

Fri 17 Jan 2025 Mr Quinn

    Good morning,

Another fantastic week in P6/7! Our topic at the moment is diet and healthy eating, we had lots of fun this week using our measuring skills to compare levels of sugar in popular foods and drinks. We examined the number of calories in many foods, using our data handling skills to present our findings in a range of graphs.

We were also delighted to welcome Miss Finlay, BEd Student at Stranmillis University College. Miss Finlay was in the class for observation days, before we welcome her back for 6 weeks for her placement. We look forward to the learning opportunities this provides.

Have a fantastic week and well done to all in P6/7 for their continued focus, effort and positive attitude towards their learning.
