St Patrick's Primary School
Together Everyone Achieves More. Journey to Learning
🏆Congratulations Eoghan Rua🟣🟢
We were delighted to welcome members of the victorious Eoghan Rua Senior Hurling team to St. Patrick’s today. They won the Derry Intermediate Hurling Championship, defeating Ballinascreen in the final.
As part of our weekly assembly Ruairi, Leo and Ciaran spoke to the children about the importance of teamwork, commitment and persistence.
Thank you to the lads for coming in and we wish them the best of luck in the Ulster Championship!
They are photographed below with our Star of the Week Winners, well done everyone!
Continuing on with our ‘Autumn’ theme today the children got to make their very own apple juice.
Thank you to the team in Tesco Portstewart for their generous donation of 25 pumpkins. We are also extremely grateful for supporting St. Patricks breakfast club throughout the year.
🍁Autumn Adventures🍂
Year 1-4 went on an Autumn Adventure through Somerset Forest today! They had a wonderful time exploring the sights and sounds of the forest. The children enjoyed scavenging for all types of leaves, acorns and even spotted some animals!
The children will use today’s walk to support their learning, by completing writing tasks and creating wonderful pieces of Autumnal Art!
Thank you to our PTA for funding today’s trip!
Please find enclosed in your child’s reading folder a free copy of this weeks Coleraine Chronicle. We feature on Page 35.📸
🤩WIN THIS AMAZING KNITTED GOLFER ⛳️
Thank you so much to a very kind and talented Grandparent for knitting this fabulous Golf Mascot for the school.
The children have organised a ‘Name the Golfer’ competition.
Entries cost £1. Children will be given the opportunity to purchase entries and guess a name as members of the School Council visit classes each day. The name will be unveiled and the lucky winner will be crowned before Halloween.
Funds raised will be used by the School Council, they have some big plans for the year ahead!
Thank you once again to one of our Grandparents for this!
P6/7 had a great day at a workshop in Ballycastle!
The workshop focused on the work of Guglielmo Marconi and his radio wave experiments across the Sea of Moyle. The children got the opportunity to communicate via Morse Code and loved getting to see exactly how radio waves work!
Thank you to W5 and Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Museum Services for organising the event.
Say hello to our new School Council!
The first School Council meeting of the year will take place this week, following a tight election campaign, during which members of each class were elected by their classmates.
Hopeful council members were tasked with creating an election campaign in the hopes of earning a spot. This included completing their individual campaign ideas, creating self-advertising posters and presenting their aims to their fellow classmates. Pupils then held class votes to decide who would take a place in the school council. Well done to our winners👏🏼
🩹Youth First Aid🚑
Today, the Primary 6/7 class completed a Youth First Aid Training Course. The children got the opportunity to learn essential life skills such as CPR, how to dress cuts and burns, as well as being trained on how to use a defibrillator.
Thank you to Geraldine from British Red Cross for coming in today to give the children such a valuable learning experience.
Wonderful first day at St Patricks for our new P.1 pupils.
